PLEASE EMAIL THE LEADER WITH YOUR CELL PHONE NUMBER TO ATTEND.

The put-in is on Rt. 213 5 1/2 miles south of Chesapeake City, MD. There is no shuttle. The put in is a small parking lot on the right just before crossing over the bridge as you drive south You may park on the grass if necessary. When you pull in please park perpendicular to the fence line to allow for more parking. There is a carry of 100 yards to the small sand beach put in.

We will paddle across the Bohemia and up Scotchman Creek as far as possible. Then return to the Bohemia for lunch on a sandy beach just down the Bohemia from the put-in. After lunch we will paddle either Manor Creek or up the Bohemia.

Bring lunch, water, and sunscreen. There is no porta-potty at the put-in or where we stop for lunch. The creek is well protected but crossing the Bohemia can be more difficult if the wind picks up. A boat of 12 feet or longer would be better for the open water on the Bohemia. Please respond to Bob Strahorn by email if you are coming, if you need equipment, and with any questions.

LOCATION NOTES:

General Information:
Recreational: The Bohemia River is fairly wide open and tidal. Scotchman Creek is across the Bohemia and is a great paddle trip. Manor Creek is just behind the launch area and is a shorter paddle trip. Turn right from the launch area to approach the Chesapeake Bay. We try to paddle here aroung high tide.

Difficulty & Must Haves:
Without wind, this is a very easy paddle and can be as long as the group wants. The 2 creeks are well protected and full of wildlife. Best to have a 12’ or longer kayak, especially if the wind picks up. Basic kayak training is the only requirement to attend this paddle. Need a lunch, sunscreen, water and all required paddling gear.

Nice to Have & Human Interest:
For windy days a spray skirt is great to have on the open Bohemia. Numerous waterfowl, to include eagles are throughout Scotchman Creek.
