We have just learned that Edward “Ned” Sohl, 76, passed away Feb. 6, 2021, in North Oaks, Minnesota. Ned joined the club in 1973 and was a very active hiker and leader. He led the Club’s effort to secure a coveted position as an AT maintaining club, and was our first AT Trail Supervisor, serving from 1995 through 2000. Besides leading many Saturday hikes (notably to Sunfish Pond), he held key offices:

      • Vice President in 1990
      • President in 1991
      • Safety Chair 1993-1994

After retiring from DuPont in 2001, he moved to Montana but returned to Wilmington yearly until 2006 to extend his record of continuous End-to-End hikes to 21. In 2009 he started the hike but dropped out at Twin Bridges – his membership lapsed later that year after 36 years of hiking fun and distinguished service.
