Relaxed Hikes
I am pleased to announce the addition of a new hiking category: Relaxed Hikes, which Kathy Tidball has volunteered to coordinate. Thank you, Kathy. These hikes will begin in January 2022 on Tuesday afternoons at 1:30. Please visit the calendar over the next few weeks to view the hike offerings. As a reminder, these hikes are designed for our members that desire a shorter, easier hike for any reason though anyone may attend. Expect a casual 2-3 miles on easy, flat terrain. Since this is a new category, we do need some volunteer leaders. Kathy may be reached at , 302-584-3777 to volunteer.
HAD Story
The 2021 HAD was huge success as we recover from Covid restrictions. Leslie Rose and her husband Donney came from Prince George’s County, Maryland to attend the Hike Across Delaware. She wrote a very interesting article about the hike and local history in Travel Noir. Please read her Traveler Story.
COVID
Covid continues to prevent a full return to normal life. Please stay abreast of the developments and keep you and your family safe.
Volunteer Recognition
Recognizing our volunteers is important, and we do this at the Annual Meeting/Banquet. Over the years, some of our members have been recognized by outside organizations for their special contributions to the community. We recently developed a PowerPoint (uploaded as .pdf) for these volunteers which I recommend you read. We searched the club archives to find these awardees, but we may have missed some. If we missed you, or someone you know, please contact Bill.
A Moment in History
In 1939, our founding year, 22 members of WTC did a weekend excursion to Chincoteague Island, VA. You may enjoy reading about it here.
