ModeratorDear Friends,
You are cordially invited to join us for the 26th annual Hike Across Delaware scheduled for Saturday, November 6, 2021. Just think, you’ll be able to tell people you walked across an entire state!
As in previous years, we will meet at Battery Park in Delaware City at 8 am to check in and then board buses beginning at 8:45 for the ride to the starting point in North Chesapeake City, Maryland. Masks must be worn on the buses at all times. Delaware City public parking is available a block from Battery Park at 82 Washington Street. We will hike along the north side of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. The route lies mainly on land designated as the Canal Wildlife Zone. At the 10-mile checkpoint, St. Georges, light refreshments and rest rooms will be available.
East of St. Georges, the route leaves the canal, enters the woods and circles a marina. Then, it returns to the canal and continues toward historic Delaware City along Clinton Street. The trees and shrubbery sporting their fall foliage, combined with the opportunity for a close view of boats, ships and barges using the waterway, make for a pleasant journey along the trail.
The fees for 2021 remain unchanged: $20 for WTC members and $25 for nonmembers, covering the cost of permits, insurance, shuttle bus transportation, bandanas, refreshments and portable toilets. Subject to space availability, on-site registrations may be possible for a fee of $30. Bandanas are not guaranteed.
We hope that you will take advantage of this fun event, that you will register on line at https://wilmingtontrailclub.org/about-wtc/wtc-events/hike-across-delaware-had/ and that you will encourage family, friends and others in your circle to sign up as well.
NON-REFUNDABLE REGISTRATIONS ARE DUE NO LATER THAN OCTOBER 27.
We look forward to seeing you on the trail.
Sincerely,
Michèle and Reuben Yarmus
