PICNIC – WE HAD AN OUTSTANDING TURNOUT LAST YEAR AND PLAN AN EVEN BIGGER ATTENDANCE THIS YEAR.
PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND REGISTER.
NOTE: THE PICNIC WILL BE AT THE AREA 2 (BOAT RENTALS) PAVILION
PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT WILL BE HELD RAIN OR SHINE – THERE IS NO RAIN DATE! THE PICNIC AND RAFFLE WILL BE HELD IN A LARGE PAVILION WITH A ROOF – Hikes are expected to still occur if it rains, however, the paddle and bike ride may not. This is the club’s biggest event of the year with great food and raffle with some great prizes! Please try to come later (by 12:00 noon) to attend the picnic and raffle if you signed up, even if you cannot attend the activity of your choice due to rain.
Once you enter Area 2, bear left, we are the pavilion to the right.
Picnic Schedule:
9:00 am Long Hike led by Rick Buckmaster and Theresa Boyle (see Hiking Calendar for further details)
9:00 am Cyclists led by Aram Terzian meet for a ride (see Cycling Calendar for further details)
9:30 am Kayakers led by Bob Strahorn, meet and launch at Lums Pond at the beach (see Paddling Calendar for further details).
10:00 am Short Hike led by Karyn Derman (see Hiking Calendar for further details).
12:00 pm A few words from our WTC President – Aram Terzian
12:30 pm Time to eat! Please wait until all groups have returned and the president has spoken to start eating.
1:45 pm Club Raffle with prizes and more!
The club will supply hamburgers, hot dogs, fixins, soda/water. Please bring a dish to share (salads, snacks, main dishes, desserts).
Please register so that we’ll know how many burgers etc. to buy. Fill out the event booking form at the bottom of this calendar event with the number attending and click on “send your booking”. Please register by Thursday October 6.
Lums Pond charges a $4 in-state, and $8 out-of-state daily admission fee if you don’t have a DE State Park Pass.
We will have a raffle and have some great donations from local businesses as well as club members. We can add any items members may no longer have need of that are in good condition. We are looking for some good fun prizes! If you have something for the raffle please answer the question “yes” when you register for the picnic. John Kegelman will contact you regarding your item.
Sustainability Initiative: We will have a special raffle prize for those who choose to bring their own washable plate and eating utensils. You will get a special raffle ticket! There will be plastic and paper picnic supplies in case you forget.
