White Clay Creek Preserve – Big Elk Section closed for hunting

White Clay Creek Preserve (now known as Big Elk Creek State Park, Pa)   Big Elk Section

• Regular Firearms: (only Big Elk Section) November 26, November 27; Sunday, November 28; November 29 – December 11; December 27, 2021 – January 29, 2022.

(PA trails are not marked closed for firearms season, but for your safety if is recommended you should treat them as closed.)

From 896 at the DE/MD/PA state line. Continue north on PA-896 for 0.8 mi. Turn left onto Strickersville Rd & proceed 2.4 mi. Appleton Rd will be crossed along the way. The parking lot will be on your left, up a little steep hill, immediately off of Strickersville Rd. It is difficult to see from the road. If you reach Augustine Dr on the left, you have just passed it.

This PA State Preserve is adjacent to the northern boundary of Fair Hill Natural Resources Management Area.  Formerly: “The Strawbridge Farm”.  Then it was acquired by PA-DCNR in 2018 as an addition to the White Clay Creek Preserve and was known as “White Clay Creek State Preserve – Big Elk Creek”.   BEC became it’s own PA State park in 2022.
