Our annual turkey-scouting hike (the feathered kind, as well!). This hike will be flat, and may be muddy. Hike goes through Blackbird State Forest; mostly wooded, some field edges. Bring water and lunch. Keep your eyes open for turkeys!
- Carpool Meeting: Meet at Suburban Plaza Shopping center at the bank parking lot; we will leave there at 8:00 a.m. Hike leaves at 9:00 a.m.
- Driving from Suburban Plaza. Go to Rt. 896 south to Boyd’s Corner Road. Left at Boyd’s Corner Road (at the Exxon Station at Summit Airport; this is Rt. 896), travel about 3-4 miles. Turn right onto Rt. 13 south at Boyd’s Corner (opposite the Wawa). Proceed south on Rt. 13. Just past Townsend, Rt. 71 will join from the right. Proceed about 1 mile; at the blinking light, take the right turn onto Blackbird Forest Road. Go about 1 to 11⁄2 miles passing the railroad tracks. Just past Oliver Guessford Road, take the left turn onto the Tybout Tract of Blackbird State Forest. Go to the rearmost parking lot, about 300 yards back.
