This is a CORVID-19 compliant paddle. We will be maintaining social distancing when possible and wearing face masks as necessary. Please bring a face mask, hand sanitizer, and your own pen to sign the liability/release form. Please bring a lunch to eat in your boat. You must RSVP the leaders (Bob Strahorn and Kalindi Dogra, ) via email to attend.

Please respond as soon as possible. You do not have to wait until six days before the trip. Paddles are limited to 10 people and we want to determine how many are interested and possibly have two paddles each day.

We will be paddling Saturday, September 12th on the Pocomoke River and Sunday the 13th at Jane’s Island. Both paddles require a touring kayak that tracks well and is at least 14 feet long. On the Pocomoke this year because of the Covid courtesies we will paddle upriver from Shads landing to Nassawango Creek and explore it. We will then proceed to Snow Hill for lunch and then make our way back to the campground. (~9-10mile trip)

Janes Island State Park is located near Crisfield, on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Paddling the area gives options for all areas of expertise, from the open waters of the Tangier Sound to the >30 miles of marked paddle tails that traverse a Chesapeake Bay salt marsh. Most of these interior waterways are protected from wind and current. Fall is when you may see some of the many migrating birds that cross the region. Regardless of the time of year you can expect to see beautiful vistas, egrets, herons of all types, snails, crabs including the beautiful blue crab, many fish, osprey, and many other animals and birds. (Insects are very plentiful too, so don’t forget the bug spray!)
