Morgan Creek is a lovely tidal creek that is a tributary of the Chester River located east of Chestertown, Md. This is a fantastic beginner paddler. It is a scenic winding river with lots of eagles and great blue herons. Swimming is good at the put-in/lunch spot.
We will meet at 10, launch at 10:30. We will go upriver first, return to the put-in for lunch, and then go downriver if people wish. Put-in is Riley’s Mill Landing. No shuttle.
Directions: Go south on 213 towards Chestertown. Turn left onto Riley’s Mill road and go about 3/4 mile to the water. There are no facilities at the put-in. There is parking for 12 to 15 cars. Upriver distance will be 4 to 6 miles round trip.
From the intersection of US-40 & MD-213, proceed south on MD-213 for 20.0 mi. Turn right to stay on MD-213 S (Cross St) & proceed 11.2 mi. Turn left onto Rileys Mill Rd & proceed 0.8 mi. Parking will be at the dead end.
