Sassafras Landing (38.499769, -75.084950)
Drive time from Wilmington is approximately 2 hours. Our launch site, Sassafras Landing, is a sandy beach accessible at both high and low tide. We plan to kayak the sheltered inland Little Assawoman Bay area and, tide and wind permitting, explore the salt marshes and Miller Creek. Please plan to be on the water 3-4 hours.
Meet at Sassafras Landing at 10:30AM.No shuttle required.
Assawoman State Wildlife Area is free access, but is a “carry-in, carry-out” park.
Port-a-potty restroom at launch site.
This can be a popular boating area. If the parking spaces are in use, please park along the entrance road prior to the port-a-potty. Do not block the launch area and please leave enough room for vehicle with trailers to enter and exit the area.
A 12 foot or longer boat is highly recommended
Please bring lunch, plenty of water and sunscreen and dress appropriately for the wind and water temperature.
Respond by email if you plan to attend.
