DESCRIPTION: (Wear appropriate clothing & bring water! Below are some special instructions: what to bring, relative difficulties, interesting features, & carpooling directions.)
This is a two-part hike totaling 12-ish “good” miles with lots of hills and rocks. We will start at the Holtwood Recreation Area on a trail not often used by WTC. We’ll join the Conestoga trail and hike up to the Pinnacle. We will take new (to us) trails that will lead us to the beautiful but challenging Kelly’s Run then return to Holtwood. This part of the hike is 7-8 miles. We will then take a 10-minute relocation ride to Susquehannock State Park for lunch then do most of the trails in this park. The trails offer a wide variety of terrain, including fields, woods and plenty of rocks and hills. Ice cream stop in Quarryville on the way home. Bring lunch, snacks, and plenty of water. Driving distance 39+ miles. Meet at the Hockessin Park & Ride (Fire House) by 7:30 a.m. Contact the leader if meeting at the trailhead.
