DESCRIPTION: (Wear appropriate clothing & bring water! Below are some special instructions: what to bring, relative difficulties, interesting features, & carpooling directions.)
Join us in experiencing a raised boardwalk easy hike across the Russell Peterson Wildlife Refuge in south Wilmington. This is an “in and out” hike commencing at the DuPont Environmental Nature Center at the south end of the Wilmington Riverfront to New Castle County Potter’s Field Cemetery and return. The only hills are related to the gradual ramps up to and down from the Nature Center and at the bridge across the Christina River. Walking surfaces are asphalt and boardwalk. The trail is for pedestrians and cyclists only and no street crossings exist in this portion. Indoor restrooms are available at the Nature Center.
Supplemental Directions: At last check, the road access to the Nature Center is open via Delmarva Lane at the south end of the Shipyard Lot. In case of construction closure, or full parking at the Nature Center, there is close additional parking in front of the Franciscan Health Center, next to a path leading to the Nature Center.
