First State National Historical Park

Five level miles total, out and back, along the Brandywine, starting from Peter’s Rock parking area at 10:00 a.m. Bring water. Driving Directions: From intersection of Rt. 202 and Naamans Road, drive west on Beaver Valley Road. Continue straight at the stop sign onto Beaver Dam Road. Turn left at the T-junction near Brandywine Creek, the parking lot is on your right.

From the intersection of US-202 (Concord Pike) & DE-92 (Beaver Valley Rd) proceed west on Beaver Valley for 1.4 mi. At stop sign go straight onto Beaver Dam Rd & proceed 0.7 mi. Turn left onto Brandywine Creek Rd & proceed 0.1 mi. The parking lot will be on the right.

Date Posted: 8/10/2023Due to the recent storms, a number of large trees have fallen and continue to fall in and around the Smith Bridge Picnic Area & Parking Lot. Smith Bridge Picnic Area and Parking Lot will be closed starting at 4:00PM on August 8, 2023 until further notice.
