This is a COVID-19 compliant hike so only 10 hikers (including the leader) will be able to attend. Please bring your mask, hand sanitizer, a pen to sign the hike release form, and a snack to eat while we’re hiking. There will be no lunch stop.

See Location Notes field for updated driving directions (7/28/2020).From the DE/MD state line, take MD-273 west for 1.4 mi. At the traffic circle, take the 1st exit onto Appleton Rd north for 1.2 mi. Turn left onto Black Bridge Rd & continue across the Appleton North parking lot & proceed 1.0 mi. At the covered bridge, turn right on Tawes Drive for about 1/4 mile, parking is across from the Nature Center.
Update 7/28/2020: We see that the access from Black Bridge Road (P3) is closed periodically. So we recommend going in
from 273 from near the race track. From Newark, take 273 West into Maryland. At the first traffic circle go straight through.
There is a traffic light for construction at Big Elk Creek. Continue on 273 W. As you approach the Fair Hill Race Track,
Go under Ranger Skinner Road and take the first left on Kennel Drive, Take the next two lefts on Ranger Skinner Drive over 273.
Ranger Skinner becomes Training Center Drive. Continue to right on Tawes Drive. Parking is about a mile on the left across from the Fair Hill Nature Center. There is a new trail to the covered bridge.
