Christmas in Historic New Castle

Come visit Historic New Castle with its holiday charm. This will be a walk around the town to see seasonal decorations throughout. The walk is all on paved surfaces, albeit sometimes with uneven bricks and even cobblestones, so a trekking pole or two may be appropriate for use. Note: The restrooms usually open at the Senior Center adjacent to our parking will not be open. We are checking on availability of restrooms at the Visitors Center.

Due to some relaxing of travel restrictions, Delaware event locations can be attended by Pennsylvania residents, as long as their visit is less than 24 hours. So don’t get lost! This hike is limited to 10 people and you must RSVP the leader via email starting 6 days before the hike (December 18). Other respondents beyond the first 9 will be added to a second hike and notified if there has been a cancellation in the first hike. Please provide the leader with your phone number for notification in case of cancellations.

The second hike covering the same route will commence at 10:30 composed of those waitlisted from the first hike. It is important that those accepted to the first hike arrive for their meet-up at 9:45 to depart at 10:00am. Members informed they are included in the second hike are to arrive at 10:15 for meet-up and departure at 10:30am. Anyone needing to cancel from either hike should contact the Leader by 8:00am the day of the hike, who may then contact others waitlisted who didn’t get into either hike.

We will follow state of Delaware Covid 19 rules: stay 6 feet apart if possible, and wearing a face mask is required if that distance can not be maintained. You must have face mask readily available on your person while on the hike. Also, please bring your own pen to sign in.
