DESCRIPTION: (Wear appropriate clothing & bring water! Below are some special instructions: what to bring, relative difficulties, interesting features, & carpooling directions.)
This is a CORVID-19 compliant paddle. We will be maintaining social distancing when possible and wearing face masks as necessary. Please bring a face mask, hand sanitizer, and your own pen to sign the liability/release form. Please bring a lunch to eat in your boat. The paddle is limited to 10 people and you must RSVP the leader (Christina Older and Kalindi Dogra, ) via email to attend. RSVPs will only be accepted 6 days prior to the day of the paddle (i.e. starting Monday August 31). After 10 are signed up you will be placed on a waiting list.
The put in is the Churchmans Road Boat Launch – Christina River. From DE 7, go east on DE 58 (Churchman’s Road). The parking lot for the boat ramp is approximately 1 mile down Churchmans Road on the left, just past the Strano & Feeley Funeral Home. There is a sign on the left for the Christina River Boating Access Area.
We will paddle north into and around Churchman’s Marsh before returning to the put-in for a short snack and stretch break. The paddle will continue upstream with the tide to the Route 1 bridge, and return to the put-in with the outgoing tide. This is a beautiful paddle with lots of birds and flowers. It is a bit noisy due to its proximity to I-95.
There is no shuttle. There are no restrooms and no parking fee.
