DESCRIPTION: (Wear appropriate clothing & bring water! Below are some special instructions: what to bring, relative difficulties, interesting features, & carpooling directions.)
This is a 4 to 5-mile hike through wooded and open areas on an asphalt-paved trail in Chester County. Arrive ready to begin the hike by 10:00 a.m.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS: Take Rt. 202 from the intersection of Rts. 1 and 202, proceeding north for 13.2 miles, exiting at the second Frazer exit onto 401 East. (Do not take the first Frazer exit on to Rt. 30). Staying straight down the hill on this exit puts you onto 401 East (Conestoga Road). Turn right at the first traffic light (now 13.6 on your mileage). The sign will point to East Whiteland Township Municipal Building. Proceed up the hill to the parking lot at the rear of the building. This will put us close to mile marker 9 on the trail, with Exton Park to the west and Upper Merion to the East. CARPOOLING: For carpooling, meet at the parking lot out from Harvest Seasonal Grille and Wine Bar at 549 Wilmington Pike (Rt. 202 north), Glen Mills, PA between 9:00 and 9:15 a.m. This is the same parking lot for Whole Foods, in Glen Eagle Square Shopping Center. Lunch Options: A diner is located to the left at the intersection of 401 East Rt. 30, and McKenzie’s Pub is on left side of Rt. 30 heading west after turning right on to Rt. 30 from 401 East.
