Chester Creek, Starch Mill and Linvilla Trails, Del Co, PA

Meet 10:00 a.m. at Trail parking lot, Mt. Alverno Road. We will pick up where the April 12 hike ended. Half of the 4-mile route is paved and the remainder is an unimproved dirt trail over uneven terrain, but has no stream crossings. We will have a rest stop at Linvilla Orchard.

Driving Directions: From Newark and Wilmington: I-95 to PA exit 2, Rt. 452 North through Aston. At 3.27 miles, on the right you should see Mt. Alverno Road. Turn half-right, cross bridge and in 0.3 mile look for parking lots on both sides of the road before you get to the Trail crossing.  If you reach Snyder’s Hardware Store you have gone too far, so pull in and U-turn back to the first road on the left, Mt. Alverno, and proceed as above. From North Wilmington: Head out Foulk Road (261) into PA about 6.5 miles from Concord Pike. At road’s end turn slight right onto Concord Road. In 1.23 miles, turn left on 452 and proceed 0.79 miles to Mt. Alverno Road. Turn right and continue as above. From PA Rts. 202 and 1 (Baltimore Pike), Concordville: Head north on Rt. 1 towards Media. At 6.29 miles, turn Rt. on 452. Proceed 2.44 miles. to Mt. Alverno Road just past the Hardware Store. Turn left and continue as above.
