CANCELED Canoe Camping on Lake Lila in the Adirondacks, NY

This is a 3-night canoe camping trip that is limited to 7 people across 3 tents besides Susan and me; group sizes on Lake Lila are limited to 9 people.  We have been to Lake Lila 8 times and this is a favorite.

            You have the option of either driving up the night before and staying in town (we will be staying at the Adirondack Hotel) or meeting us at the portage to Lake Lila (parking: Lake Lila Access Rd, Long Lake, NY 12847; GPS 44.018719, -74.729787) no later than 9:30 Thursday morning. We will transport our boats and camping gear ⅓ mile to the beach where we will then set off across the lake to find a base camp campsite; campsites are available on a first come and first serve basis.  We will spend Thursday, Friday and Saturday camping, exploring, fishing, hiking, nature watching, star-gazing and swimming.  Alcohol, nicotine and drugs are prohibited.

            Attendees must be fit enough to paddle for 3 hours, hike for 2 hours, transport a canoe or kayak and must commit to helping with camp chores (fetching water, collecting firewood).  Canoes and kayaks are available for rent from a local outfitter.

            While beginners (backpackers or canoe campers) are welcome, each member must bring all the gear they need to be self-sufficient. While we will be camping as a group, each member is responsible for themselves and their own meals.  A 20-degree sleeping bag and inflatable sleeping pad is required for all attendees.
