Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge

Please meet and be ready to hike promptly at 2:00 p.m. at Bombay Hook nature center parking lot.

Wear warm clothing, as it is likely to be cold and could be windy, and comfortable hiking shoes or boots as road is unpaved but smooth and flat (no hills). Hike will be approximately 5 miles. There will be a dinner option after the hike at Bella Villa restaurant in Smyrna. Please note the later time, as we hope to see snow geese and other waterfowl in the evening hours. There is a $4.00 national park fee or use park pass.

For those interested in carpooling from the Wilmington/Newark area, please meet at the Park N Ride at the intersection of Rts. 7 & 273 promptly at 12:45 p.m.

From the intersection of DE-13 where it joins DE-1 South (toll road) to first Smyrna exit 114A. Or to avoid toll, exit DE-1 from the Roth Bridge onto DE-13 South. Follow DE-13 South through Smyrna passing DE-6. After passing a cemetery on left, make a left turn at the light onto Leipsic-Smyrna Rd. Follow this road which eventually merges with DE-9 South. Shortly after the merge, look for a brown sign for Bombay Hook on right and Whitehall Rd on the left. Turn left and travel 2.2 mi to the entrance to the Refuge.
