Blue Ball Barn, Alapocas, Brandywine Park

Meet at Blue Ball Barn by 9 am for a hike of about 12 miles, mostly on paved trails with some hills, although there will be some woodland paths (expect rocks, stream crossings, possibly mud). We will definitely stop at the zoo to see the animals and have a restroom break. The hike will have to be lengthened if the pedestrian bridge over the Brandywine near Rockford Tower is closed (a sign says to expect periodic bridge closures because of construction, but I don’t think much work will be done this winter.) If snow in forecast, check forum or call hike leader to confirm hike. Also, if there’s enough snow on ground, we might snowshoe rather than hike (again, check forum or call hike leader).

From the intersection of I-95 & US-202. Take US-202 (Concord Pike) northbound. Follow signs for DE-141 S. Turn left onto DE-141 S (Foulk Rd). Turn left at the 1st cross street onto W Park Dr. Parking is at the top of the hill, on the left.
