Backpack, Appalachian Trail, NJ

This is a 14.8-mile shuttle backpacking trip which will start at the Millbrook Blairstown Road Trailhead (about 1.1 miles south of the Millbrook Village Historic Site) and end at the Culvers Gap Trailhead Parking Area (near Branchville, NJ).   The entire 2 days will be spent on the NJ section of the Appalachian Trail over which we will be hiking northbound (NOBO) and ascend ~1,750’ and descend ~2,100’.  On Saturday we will leave Wilmington at 6:00 AM and drive to the Culvers Gap Parking Area, leave a car(s) and then drive to the Millbrook Trailhead where we will then hike 10.9 miles to the Brink Road Shelter, our campsite for the night.  On Sunday we will begin our hike out around 8:00 AM and hike 3.9 miles to Culvers Gap where we will then shuttle back to pick up our car(s); we expect to be back in Wilmington by 3:00 PM.  Driving distance is approximately 132 miles, one-way, plus the shuttle, and will take about 2 1/2 hours.  Backpackers of all skill levels are welcome.  Please contact Greg or Susan for more details and to sign up!
