The hike will be around the pond and the park. The terrain is flat and may be wet and muddy in some places. Bring lunch and water. The park entrance is on the right about 1/2 mile from the 896 turnoff. Continue on the park road past the park office building and past the entrance to the Area 5 Nature Center. Area 4 is on the right just a little beyond Area 5. Note: On 896 at the turn off onto Howell School Road, a sign points straight ahead for Lums Pond. Don’t be fooled, the sign refers to the Campground entrance to the Park.

WRITTEN DIRECTIONS:
From the intersection of DE-896 and US-40, proceed south on DE-896 for 2.6 miles. Turn left onto Howell School Rd and travel 0.4 mile. Turn right into the park. The lot areas are numbered in reverse, because the entrance was moved from one end to the other. Follow the park road, past Area 5. Area 4 is on the right.
