EVENT
DATE: 10/12/2019
TIME: 7:30am - 7:00pm (prompt start, estimated end)
This will be an off-trail, semi-bushwhack hike along about five miles of the Boundary of the WTC-maintained section of the AT. Much of the terrain is on steep and rocky hillsides, so sturdy footwear (boots) is highly recommended. Anyone not known to the leader needs to contact him for screening. People and gear have failed in this terrain and I’d like to not repeat this. All supplies furnished although most people like to bring their own gloves and pruners. We will trim brush, locate monuments and repaint some blazes, using gps software, paper maps and compass. Bring a compass for practice, if you wish. Meet at 7:30 a.m., carpool to Fox Gap, about 110 miles each way. If driving directly to site, please inform leader. Bring lots of water, lunch, snacks, and enthusiasm. After hike snack/dinner stop in Delaware Water Gap at the Village Bakery is very likely. Return to Wilmington early evening. Carpool drivers receive mileage compensation from WTC. ATC Corridor Monitor Tee shirts and ball caps are available. All participants need to register and provide a shirt size in advance in order to receive a shirt on the event day. In addition, all registrants will be notified by phone or email of any changes or cancellations Friday before the trip. This notice will also appear on WTC Forums.
