EVENT

WHEN:
DATE: 10/13/2023-10/15/2023
TIME: 9:30am-3:00pm (prompt start, estimated end)

DESCRIPTION: (Wear appropriate clothing & bring water!  Below are some special instructions: what to bring, relative difficulties, interesting features, and carpooling directions.)

You must RSVP the leaders (Kalindi Dogra or Christina Older) via email to attend.

Kelly Moylan has reserved a number of camp sites for us with some spaces open. You may contact her () to check availability. All sites are in H loop (287, 289, 291, 293, 295, 297). Otherwise, you are responsible for booking your own campsite. To reserve a MD camp site click on Web Page below to go to the Maryland Park reservation site. Camping reservations can be made 365 days in advance. However, Kelly has checked the reservations page and there are no sites open in any loop for both nights. Sites in other areas (National Park, Frontier town, etc.) may be available. You will need to pay additional fees per car to enter the Assateague Island National Seashore if we choose to paddle there. Please bring a National Park pass and DE and MD state park passes if you have them.

The plan is to gather at Loop H or Ayers Creek on Friday afternoon for an easy early evening or late afternoon paddle, followed by a Saturday paddle on the open tidal waters of Sinepuxent Bay. The time above (9:30) is for Saturday. An ad hoc shorter paddle will happen on Sunday based on paddlers interest. The best boat would be a 14′ or longer vessel that is able to track well. A spray skirt is highly recommended as we do encounter chop. The bay is prone to wind, so you need to feel comfortable under these conditions. Please remember that this is coastal paddling in October; you need to be prepared for both warm and cool air/water temperatures. In case of scary high winds, we will shift the paddle to inland venues in the area (Ayers creek, Pocomoke, Trap Pond, etc.)
