Annual Watershed Cleanup 2018

(This is a week after the official “27th Annual Christina River Watershed Cleanup” event date, so as to not conflict with the annual Wilmington Trail Club E2E hike event.)

We will volunteer again at the London Britain Township Greenway Park, but not in the meadow.  Since we cleared invasive there, some very pointed herbicide treatments were done and a couple dozen native trees have been planted!  We can look forward with pride to seeing it grow.

This year, we will have two side by side projects.  1. Carefully cutting invasive, non-native vines …from trees.  Useful to bring are: loppers, pruners, small saws, full size shovels, prying tools, & buckets.  2. Removing material from a dump.  Useful to bring are: full size shovels, prying tools, buckets, wheelbarrows, & a strong back.  Refuse from either project, will not have to be moved very far.

All participants should bring a pair of sturdy work gloves.  (We will have some pairs to borrow.)  Long pants and sturdy boots are also highly recommended.  Don’t forget sun protection, suntan lotion and bug spray if you wish.   Water, pretzels, and apples will be provided.

For volunteers who commit in advance, will have a choice of participation gift: tee-shirt from the “London Britain Land Trust” or “Christina River Watershed Cleanup” shopping bag.  Please email April as soon as possible, for more info or to indicate your participation and tee with size or shopping bag preference.  If you know of anyone one else, who might be interested, please ask them to send me their email address.

Go to PA-896 at the MD/PA border. Proceed north on PA-896 for only 0.1 mi. Turn left onto the first Rd, Elbow Ln and proceed 1.5 mi. Turn right onto Flint Hill Rd and proceed 0.6 mi. Parking lot is on the right.
