WTC WTC Volunteer Opportunities (Recurring) -- for 0.25 - 1.0 miles on 02/22/2024 @ 9:00am-11:00am -- This project’s objective is to increase plant diversity and help preserve the native plants by removing non-native invasive plants. Wear long sleeves and pants, work gloves. We will supply needed tools. All help is welcome and there is work for all levels. The work will range from easy hand-pulling of small plants to removal of large shrubs and trees, to cutting and piling plant debris. This is a great way to learn more about invasive plants and the ecology of the park. The walk to the worksite varies between 0.25 to 1.0 mile. Any questions, please contact Terri Tipping. Backup contacts are: Jim March and Mike Czupryna.
HIKING Thursday Hiking -- for 4-5 miles on 02/22/2024 @ 10:00am-12:30pm -- Out and back with some loops on both asphalt pavement and gravel dirt trails, under tree cover and on open fields, this hike is relatively easy with no steep hills. Trekking poles may be helpful for some on the gravel/dirt portions of the trail. Toilets at this county park may not be open, but there is a drugstore with restrooms at the intersection of Paper Mill and Polly Drummond Hill Roads.
