WTC WTC Volunteer Opportunities (Recurring) -- for 0.25 - 1.0 miles on 02/08/2024 @ 9:00am-11:00am -- This project’s objective is to increase plant diversity and help preserve the native plants by removing non-native invasive plants. Wear long sleeves and pants, work gloves. We will supply needed tools. All help is welcome and there is work for all levels. The work will range from easy hand-pulling of small plants to removal of large shrubs and trees, to cutting and piling plant debris. This is a great way to learn more about invasive plants and the ecology of the park. The walk to the worksite varies between 0.25 to 1.0 mile. Any questions, please contact Terri Tipping. Backup contacts are: Jim March and Mike Czupryna.
HIKING Thursday Hiking -- for 4-5 miles on 02/08/2024 @ 10:00am-12:30pm -- Hike at this beautiful recently opened 577-acre nature preserve. We’ll be hiking wide old farm trails along the Octoraro Creek and up thru the rolling forests and fields above the creek. A couple gradual hills but nothing real difficult. Expect some mud in places so boots and poles are suggested. There’s also a very cool unique part of the trail that’s unlike any other trail you’ve ever hiked on. You’ll have to come to see though. The Glenroy lot only holds 15-20 cars max, so carpooling is very important.
