HIKING Wednesday Midweek Hiking -- for 9 miles on 11/15/2023 @ 9:00am-1:30pm -- Please join us for a hike at this peaceful MD State Park.  WTC is using this state park for the first time!  Under its unbroken forest canopy, modern civilization is not seen from the trails.  The trails are established and marked but have lots of rocks sticking up through the tread so we’ll take our time.  There are rolling elevation changes, but none are very steep.  There are no water crossings or roads.  American Beech, American Hornbeam, and Paw Paw trees are plentiful.  A few historical quartz mining remnants are along the way.  There will be an early out option back to the parking lot before lunch, around 5 miles.  The names of the trails that we’ll hike include: “Hornbeam, Iron Works, and Flint Mill”.   You can eat your lunch while sitting on a stone furnace ruin by clear running Deer Creek.  Boots and long pants are recommended.  If you use poles, ...
