HIKING Sunday Hiking -- for 7 miles on 11/05/2023 @ 1:00pm-4:15pm -- This hike involves two Franklin Township Preserves and the Keen Trail easement. The club rarely ever visits these locations. These conserved areas border the Middle Branch of the White Clay Creek, about 5 miles north of the White Clay Creek State Preserve. Expect dirt trails, dirt roads, a gnome village, and a small water crossing. There’s an early out around 6 miles. There’s about 10% pavement necessary on usually quiet Landenberg roads to get between these two Franklin Township preserves. Most of the 778 feet of elevation gain is after the early out. We’ll finish up with a trek through a remote woods to a rocky overlook and back. Most of the 778 feet of elevation gain is after the early out. Please be prepared to park very efficiently and carpool if possible. Bring water, snack, and poles if you use them.
