PADDLING Whitewater Paddling -- for miles on 09/02/2023 @ 12:00am -- WW Kayak Trip – Lehigh River – Sept. 2 – Glen Onoko to Weisport. This trip is for club members who just recently completed the beginner Kayak training sessions. Trip leaders are Kit Fieber and Jack Lewnard. More information to come as we get closer to the date. HIKING Saturday Long Hiking -- for 14 miles on 09/02/2023 @ 8:00am-4:00pm -- We will be on every trail at least twice as we do loops around these nature areas. Early outs available. Well-traveled trails, mostly in shade, but expect hills, roots, some rocks, some pavement, some open areas, and annoying gnats. Bring water, lunch, snacks, and sun and insect protection. Carpool departs from Brandywine Town Center at 8:22 am. Or meet hike leader at Sugars Bridge parking lot before 9. Contact leader if meeting at the trailhead.
HIKING Saturday Medium Hiking -- for 8-10 miles on 09/02/2023 @ 8:30am-1:00pm -- Bring water and lunch. Bug stray is still a good idea.
HIKING Saturday Short Hiking -- for 3-4 miles on 09/02/2023 @ 9:00am-11:00am -- Crosslands campus is on lockdown due to escaped Chester County prisoner. The hike will be rescheduled. This hike is around the perimeter of the Crosslands community and adjacent to Kendal at Longwood. It is on both meadow trails and the hilly terrain of woods trails between the two communities. Some portions of the woods trails are steep and have roots and rocks. Trekking poles are advised. Rest rooms in Community center mid hike. We will meet at the new Pickle Ball court in front of Ellerslie House at Parking Lot 10. Enter Crosslands from Rt. 926 and take an immediate LEFT on Crosslands Dr. Turn Right at sign for Ellerslie, Parking Lot 10. Turn left at top of hill and park in Lot 10 . Overflow parking in Lot 9 to right of Ellerslie and Lot 11 across the street. Directions: Follow Route 52 North to Route 1. Turn left on Route 1 South . At the next light turn right to continue on...
PADDLING Touring Paddling -- for miles on 09/02/2023 @ 9:30am-3:00pm -- Paddlers should arrive at the put-in with sufficient time to unload and prepare to launch at 10:00 am. The paddle will begin in Mill Creek and continue with an exploration of Furnace Bay and Principio Creek. Lunch will be on one of the sandy beaches. Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, snacks, and lunch. Please email the leader to attend with any equipment needs and include your cell number.
