PADDLING Whitewater Paddling -- for miles on 03/19/2023 @ 12:00am -- This trip can probably go a couple different ways. Like Saturday’s trips, and depending on the group, there’s likely to be a limit on numbers. It’s still winter, so immersion gear is a must, and a reliable roll is another very good idea. PADDLING Touring Paddling -- for miles on 03/19/2023 @ 10:30am-3:30pm -- Please email the leader to attend with any equipment needs and include your cell number. The paddle will be on the Christina River and White Clay Creek. Cold weather gear is required. Also, please review the newest Covid-19 policy: WTC Pandemic Safety – Wilmington Trail Club. If you use a GPS system enter the nearest address (301 Harvey Dr, Newport) not the exact coordinates. Those coordinates have been a problem for some GPS systems. At that address, turn off Harvey Drive onto Thoms Way at the sign for the Newport Boat Ramp – DNREC. Proceed to the parking lot at the end of Thoms way. There is no shuttle.
WTC WTC Volunteer Opportunities (Recurring) -- for miles on 03/19/2023 @ 1:00pm-3:00pm -- This project’s objective is to increase plant diversity and help preserve the native plants by removing non-native invasive plants. Wear long sleeves and pants, work gloves. Bring tools such as loppers, hand saws, pruners, shovels. All help is welcome and there is work for all levels: from pulling easy to remove honeysuckle vines, to sawing down linden viburnum. The walk to the worksite varies between 0.25 to 1.0 mile. HIKING Sunday Hiking -- for 4-5 miles on 03/19/2023 @ 1:00pm-3:15pm -- Enjoy this afternoon walk through woods and lakeside trails at one of Delaware’s scenic state parks. These are rooted trails that can be muddy, so consider using hiking boots and trekking poles. Be aware that state park fees commence on March 1
