WTC WTC Volunteer Opportunities (Recurring) -- for miles on 09/12/2019 @ 9:00am - 11:00am -- This project’s objective is to increase plant diversity and help preserve the native plants by removing non-native invasive plants. Wear long sleeves and pants, work gloves. Bring tools such as loppers, hand saws, pruners, shovels. All help is welcome and there is work for all levels: from pulling easy to remove honeysuckle vines, to sawing down linden viburnum. The walk to the worksite varies between 0.25 to 1.0 mile. HIKING Thursday Hiking -- for 5 miles on 09/12/2019 @ 10:00am - 1:00pm -- Leader: Mary Rodgers (H: 302/479-0249; C: 302/229-9979 day of hike). This hike is on a portion of the new pedestrian/cycling trail connecting the Wilmington Riverfront with Historic New Castle and Battery Park. We will meet-up at the parking lot on the right side of South Street in New Castle between West 5th and West 4th Streets. The New Castle Senior Center is behind this parking lot and Goodwill Fire Co. is across the street. DRIVING DIRECTIONS: From I-95 take Rt. 141 (Basin Road which becomes Washington St.) all the way east until it dead ends at 7th Street. At that stop sign make a left. At the next stop sign make a right on South Street. Stay on South through the stop sign at 6th until you pass 5th street. The parking lot will be on your right.
