PADDLING Training Paddling -- for miles on 08/17/2019 @ 9:00am - 5:00pm -- Lower Yough trip for first timers. Primarily aimed for those who have never done it, but all are welcome. So 1st timers, 2nd timers or 100th timers can come. The number of new Yough kayakers we can support is dependent on how many experienced Yough kayakers we have. Reliable river roll is desirable, but not a deal-breaker. So, if you want this as a summer’s end goal, work on the river roll now! The Lower Yough is a beautiful river in a cool location. PADDLING Touring Paddling -- for miles on 08/17/2019 @ 10:00am - 3:00pm -- This is one of our favorite paddles. Wes and I are still trying to get a full trip at Holtwood this summer. Holtwood is a section of the Susquehanna River below the Holtwood Dam. It is one of our most beautiful paddles with unique geologic formations. There is abundant wildlife with osprey and eagles. We paddle upstream along the low current west bank then switch to paddle downstream along the higher current east bank. We will have lunch on one of the islands before we paddle up Muddy Creek. The paddle will be about 4 hours. There is no shuttle. There is a porta-potty at the put-in. PA boat launch permits are not necessary.
