HIKING Saturday Long Hiking -- for 15-16 miles on 08/03/2019 @ 7:45am - 4:00pm -- We’ll hike the Horse Shoe trail from gun club road to Warwick park. These are well traveled trails with rocks and roots and some moderate hills. There may be wet areas and minor stream crossings. Meet at BTC Park and ride by 7:45. Driving distance is about 35 miles plus 10 mile shuttle. Contact the leader if you want to meet us at the trail head.
PADDLING Whitewater Paddling -- for miles on 08/03/2019 @ 9:00am - 3:00pm -- Open to recent and past graduates of the training program who want to continue developing skills needed to do the White Haven section in the future, or just want a fun day on the water. We will spend some time at Glen Onoko warming up before heading down river to the Weissport take out below Dunbar. Response from experienced paddlers willing to provide river support will dictate how may new paddlers the trip can accommodate. Arrive at the Glen Onoko private boaters lot in time to shuttle by 9:30 am. Directions will be provided if needed. Club gear can be made available for rental. HIKING Saturday Medium Hiking -- for 8 miles on 08/03/2019 @ 9:00am - 1:00pm -- Join me on on a hike in Fair Hill NRMA for approx 8 miles departing at 9:00 a.m. from the Gallaher Road parking Lot 4. Expect rolling terrain with a few hills, stream crossings and some mud if it’s been raining. Bring lunch, bug spray and water. A parking fee or Maryland pass is required and a potty potty is at the location.
PADDLING Touring Paddling Training Paddling -- for miles on 08/03/2019 @ 10:00am - 3:00pm -- Due to popular demand, this course is offered again at Turners Creek. Instruction is coordinated by Christina Older, Kalindi Dogra, Bob Strahorn, Wes Young and Louise Young. The course focuses on how to self-rescue and also assist in a rescue event while on Open Water. Bring paddle floats, webbing slings and other rescue gear. As always, bring water, sunscreen and lunch.. Turners Creek is a protected branch of the Sassafras River. There will be a short afternoon paddle after the training.
