Out and back with some loops on both asphalt pavement and gravel dirt trails, under tree cover and on open fields, this hike is relatively easy with no steep hills. Trekking poles may be helpful for some on the gravel/dirt portions of the trail. Let’s see if Punxsutawney Phil is correct and we get an early spring. We will be hiking trails with rocks, roots, mud, and possibly climbing over or through some fallen trees vines, and branches. Hiking boots, poles, and clothing appropriate for the weather and trail conditions are recommended. Bring water.

We’ll meet at the Newark Reservoir by 9:45, so you can sign up, circle up, say hello in time for a 10:00 am sendoff for a 4-5 mile moderately paced hike.  There is an early out to return to your car if you don’t want to complete the full hike, but the full hike is around the reservoir which has an excellent view of Delaware surroundings, including the Delaware Memorial Bridge off in the distance.

If hikers want, there is a restaurant nearby, Timothy’s, about a quarter mile away, sister tavern restaurant to Timothy’s at the Riverfront.  Please indicate that at roundup if that’s desired.  Timothy’s is rated 4.2 out of 5 on GrubHub and has as its Address: 100 Creek View Rd, Newark, DE 19711.

5-6 miles.  Join me for a hike in WCCSP in the beautiful late springtime. We will hike on dirt trails that are rocky with roots in some areas.  The terrain consists of rolling hills and stream crossings via bridges.  Bring water and a snack.  Poles are recommended if you use them.

Carpooling is strongly encouraged. Note: Carpooling with 3 or more in the car entitles hikers to have a chance to win WTC hats or t-shirts.
