Below is a list of events at or near area parks, that will be led by the Wilmington Trail Club (www.wilmingtontrailclub.org) volunteers, within the next 3 months.  You are very welcome to join these hike & volunteer events.  Please read the description to determine if you are capable of doing a hike.  If you have questions or for more information about a hike contact: Gary Kirk [ or (302) 366-0464].  Parks included in this list are:

This project’s objective is to increase plant diversity and help preserve the native plants by removing non-native invasive plants. Wear long sleeves and pants, work gloves. Bring tools such as loppers, hand saws, pruners, shovels. All help is welcome and there is work for all levels: from pulling easy to remove honeysuckle vines, to sawing down linden viburnum. – General Firearm Deer Hunting Seasons November 12 – November 20, 2021 December 15 – December 18, 2021 – Special Antlerless Season January 15 – January 22, 2022.

TRAIL HEADS WILL BE POSTED “TRAILS CLOSED ACTIVE HUNTING AREA” HOWEVER ALL TRAILS WILL BE OPEN ON SUNDAYS.

– November 6, 2021 Shotgun Youth Hunt a. There will be a Youth Shotgun Deer Hunt at White Clay Creek State Park on Saturday, November 6, 2021.

Youth Hunt is usually in Carpenter between Wells Lane and Creek Road, Wedgewood Road and Hopkins Road.

– Check for trail closures during Firearm Hunting season.

During this busy season, take a break and join us on a hike into Middle Run and White Clay Creek State Park .

Most of the hike will be on wooded trail with a few hills and the last 1.5 mile is on a paved trail.  Hiking boots and poles recommended.
