The October 6th activities included a long hike, short hike, cycling, and kayaking on Lums Pond. The weather cooperated and although cloudy the rain held off. All 70+ Wilmington Trail Club participants enjoyed fresh air and worked up a big appetite. A great time was had by all!
We were not disappointed! Wes was serving up tasty burgers and hot dogs on the grill and attendees contributed a vast variety of delicious salads and desserts to generously feed all of the participants. Many thanks to Joan March who organized the food. “No one went away hungry!”
Our traditional raffle was also a big success. Club member donations included a wide gamut of prizes including handmade earrings and a pottery bowl, books on hiking and biking; kayaking shorts and several other items.
In addition, we also had several very generous corporate donations. They include REI who donated a hydration back pack, Hockessin Athletic Club who donated a one month free family pass, Chick-Fil-A (Bear DE branch) donated a duffel bag filled with meal coupons, Zoup (Christiana Mall Fashion Center) donated several meal coupons, Trek Bicycle in Newark donated several in-store discount coupons and Trader Joe’s donated a shopping bag with an assortment of groceries. Many thanks to our corporate sponsors. We should all thank them for their donation to the WTC Picnic when visiting their establishments!
For the second year we had a special green-sustainability raffle price for those who brought their own plate, cup and flatware to the picnic. The winning prize was a compact REI mess kit. Several from each picnic table participated in the special green raffle.
Make certain you check the WTC club calendar for 2020!
