Thursday Short & Easy Hike

Depart at 10:00 a.m. from the Elk Neck State Forest, Black Hill Tract, 182 McKinneytown Road, North East, MD 21901 (39.545096, -75.942950) for a 4-mile hike. Lots of evergreen, Mountain Laurel.  Mostly level, leaf-covered trails.  Bring water and snack 

Driving Directions: Find your way to US-40 at the DE/MD state line.  Head west on US-40 for 4.2 miles.  Then turn left onto Old Elk Neck Road and proceed 6.0 miles.  You will pass the Forest Arboretum along the way.  Turn right onto McKinneytown Road and proceed 1.5 miles.  (If you reach MD-272, you have gone 0.4 mile too far.)  The Black Hill Tract parking lot will be on the left.  Then go past the Ranger's Station and park behind it.
