Re: Flat Water - Recreational Trips

Perhaps Mike Gaul and/or Mark Garrett or anyone else could speak up on the flat water trips going on this summer?

It would be good to keep the comments on here so that other people can find the information if they need it

You can find the official Flat Water trip calendar under "Paddling > Sea & Recreational Kayaking > Trip Calendar"

We are getting a lot of inquiries about flat water trips, which is encouraging because it is a segment of paddling that we are looking to expand. That being said, we do not currently have someone in charge of planning trips. There are several planned for this year, but there are plenty of holes to be filled.

It has been brought to my attention by Chris Stranahan that newer people may be hesitant to volunteer to lead a trip because they don't know what is involved. I am in the process of getting someone to write a summary of what is inolved in leading a trip.

If there are paddlers that would like to help fill the void of sea/rec trips this summer, I would encourage them to contact more experienced paddlers.  Chris Stranahan ran several last year, but is not interested in spearheading it this year. She would be a good person to contact about areas to paddle. Michael Gaul, Mark Yohe,  George Shellem and Bill Maloney are also avid sea/rec paddlers. Their contact info is available in the member directory.

Remember, there is no gauge on the Muddy!
